hey guys and gals, i really need all of your help and advice at the moment, with this! i have a slight dilemma and am faced with making a very tough decision in who to let go... as i'm in the middle of doing a trade with another resident member of the COLLECTORS ANONYMOUS faithful... Andrew (GI Joe Heaven)! he's inquired about the two that have been mentioned up above. the dilemma is... i've had these two figures in my possession for a little long while now, and haven't ever been able to figure out if i'd really want them in my personal collection or not. both are in spectacular shape as far as paint and play wear is concerned, with no real wear at all. i do like 'em both some what... but BOTH just haven't seemed to have able to convince me of why i should admitt them into my personal collection... so with that being said, i'm asking you guys for your help, advice and suggestions. any opinions are welcomed as i'm over here racking my brains out on who to keep... in making this trade with Andrew! so i bring it up with the members and fans of the COLLECTORS ANONYMOUS faithful, in helping me make this decision! i'm gonna give it til April 12th 2007, before finalizing my decision... and any response would be GREATLY appreciated guys and gals!!! p.s. thanks TD for the awesome suggestion of making this into a poll! and pleeease DO NOT give me that " i'd pick the cuter one " statement, Cyn!!! Hey dude.. I have to admit this is a tough choice.. when you asked me on MSN.. I could only think of my Supermarine dio.. dedicated of course to the Jar Head that is Gung-Ho! I really do like this character.. portrayed slightly be dis-encouraged [what made up word?] gi joe fans who cast the character to be camp/gay based on the clothes he wears.. I like the character as he first appeared 83 and was one of the first decorated joes .. doing that dio probably swings my decision somewhat and I only ever done a couple of single pictures with Repeater. Repeater is far from a bad character.. its just i see possible replacements to do Repeaters job.. infact.. I see alot of replacements to do his job.. but only one real decent marine to replace Gung-ho.. and that would be Leatherneck.. Good luck with your decision.. ultimately even if GH wins.. and you stick with it.. I truely feel only you personally should make the decision after hearing what everyone elses thoughts are on the subject. Urban Saboteur [member previously known as Tyler Durden] |

Here's some perspective on it. Repeater, while not a popular character, was definitely the cooler mold. An awsome figure all around, and one of my all-time favorites as far as figures go. I totally hated giving mine up when I started selling off my collection, but it had to be done. Unfortunately, he's not near as valuable as the '83 Gung Ho. Whereas you can find that GH in alot of places relitavely cheap, you'll never find him in top condition and complete that cheap. Repeater you can find just about anywhere and in top condition with all his gear for a decent price. As for which one you should keep or let go, I can't really answer that for you, man. I really wish I could. But keeping what I said in mind, it all depends on where you want to go with your collection. Value, like most collectors? Or which figures you like most, like collectors such as me? I really hope this helps, little brother. Either way it goes, keep me posted. Now you got me worrying about it. LOL!! In the end, I put myvote for Repeater, because as I said, I'd go with what I like over what's most valuable. But like I said, that's just me. -Jim |

I picked Gung-Ho, since he's a classic Joe mainstay, Repeater I dont know so much about. Now, if your Repeater is Nightforce, I'd say keep that, since I love all the Joe Nightforce figures. |

Gung Ho is a bad mother------(shut-your-mouth!) It was not even a question for me. He has always been a cornerstone of the Joe team and cannot ever be replaced IMO. Like WWCD said, if you were to trade away Repeater, he can be relatively easily replaced at a later time. GH would be much harder to find. Good luck on your decision! |

Since I don't collect ARAH, and I'm not a collector in more than the "Hey that's cool, let's play with it" sense, I can't give you very intelligent advice!
But it sounds like you got that already from the responses. Me, personally...I'd go with keeping GH. Like Trench said, he's a cornerstone. Repeater? Meh...I honestly don't even know the character...(lol...should I admit that?)...so for me it's a no brainer. For YOU, though...yeah, like Jim says, why are you collecting? If it's value, go with GH, since the other can easily be replaced apparently. If it's who you like, decide which character you like better and/or which figure you like better. I know sometimes those don't go hand in hand...Me loving Shiipwreck, but hating the Sigma one is an example. Finally...FINALLY...saw it in a store...defintely don't want him in my collection, even tho he's the coolest character in the Joeverse...

i agree, gung ho is really reconisable in his baby powder blue village people marines uniform
not to mentien he was a smart a** in the cartoon and had a huge familly who put the squeeze on the baroness in one eposode of the cartoon series my boss who is gay said that gung ho was his favorite pretty joe and still has the original ver 1 cardback on his wall framed... .i had no comment about that other then..."you still have gi joe figures and do you want to sell them for cheap "

Well, I'm going to vote for Repeater. I only recently got this figure and it is definitely a cool mold and has great paint work and accessories. Although Gung Ho is a popular character, I never been comfortable with his turquoise uniform as I never really thought that it was realistic (I always preferred the more realistic uniforms). I am looking forward to the new 25th anniversary version of Gung Ho. |

I gotta go with GH. A solid character with a not so great color scheme but his competition is Repeater. When I think of this Aliens Marine reject I think of this picture: http://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/88/vehiclepack_tankcar/ Plus his name is Repeater, which manages to sound perverted and dumb at the same time. |
